Western Kentucky’s Andrew Jackson and Jonathan Dowling were both selected on the final day of the 2014 NFL Draft. Jackson went to the Indianapolis Colts and Dowling to the Oakland Raiders. Three other Hilltoppers were signed free agent deals after the draft; FB Kadeem Jones signed with Rams, running back Antonio Andrews with the Titans and linebacker Xavius Boyd with the Ravens.
Andrew Jackson, a 6’1″ 254 lbs. ILB, was the 203rd overall pick in the 6th round. He had 95 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and one sack in last season for WKU.
Jonathan Dowling, a 6’3″ strong safety, was the 247th pick overall in the 7th round. He had 67 tackles, seven pass breakups and three interceptions with one tackle for loss and led the nation with six forced fumbles in 2013.
Kadeem Jones is 5’11″, 246 lbs. from Dundee, FLa.. He had a career 10 TD on the ground and 194 yards rushing in his 4 years. His blocking was a major reason why RB Antonio Andrews had such an amazing career.
Antonio Andrews had over 1,700 yards and 17 touchdowns under Bobby Petrino last season. He also had 478 yards receiving as a senior. He ended his career at WKU with almost 6,800 all-purpose yards. He received a reported 10,000 dollar signing bonus with the Titans.
Xavius Boyd, a 6’1″ 236 lbs. linebacker, had 103 tackles and 8.5 sacks last season.
WKU had a really talented senior class, great to see them get a chance at the next level.
