The Louisville Cardinals are all set to take on the Miami Hurricanes in the 2013 Russell Athletic Bowl. Fans from both teams will fill the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in what should be one of the best battles of this year’s bowl season.

This will be the 12th time the two schools have met. Miami is 9-1-1 in the all-time series history, although the last time they met in 2006 the Cardinals won at home, 31-7.

Louisville comes into the game 11-1 and ranked 18th in the AP Poll, losing only to Central Florida in conference plat. Miami is 9-3, not ranked in the AP Poll and 25th in the Coaches Poll. The Hurricanes lost three conference games in a row in November; Duke, Florida State and Virginia Tech.

Head coach Charlie Strong and the Cards will be seeing Miami as well other ACC teams starting next year as they switch conferences after one year in the AAC.

What’s really great is that we get to end this season against an ACC opponent because we are entering that conference next season,” Strong said. “Our players are excited, we have a lot of players from the state of Florida and I’ve spent many of years in this state and am so happy to be back in an area that you are very familiar with.”

Miami coach Al Golden is excited about the matchup and is grateful his team gets to be apart of this great bowl.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to go to the Russell Athletic Bowl,” Golden said, “to play in Orlando, and let our kids experience the sites and attractions and the community in Orlando, and get a great opponent in Louisville. Our kids are excited, I think they’re grateful. They’ve been through a lot the past two years, and they have not been able to have this opportunity.”
