Bobby Petrino picked up a big time transfer Friday in former Washington Huskies safety James Sample. The 6’2″ safety is currently at American River Community College and is available for the 2014 season with two years of eligibility.
Sample was committed to Florida A&M, but never signed.
He was a 4-star recruit out of Grant Union High School in Sacramento, Calif. in 2011. He chose Washington over Oregon, Arizona, California and several other schools. He played in five games for the Huskies in his two years, he suffered a shoulder injury in his freshman year that kept him sidelined.
