The Kentucky Derby Festival Basketball Classic is the oldest all-star game still in existence. The event manages to bring in top talent every year, despite rising competition in all-star games.
Today, the wonderful people who run the classic have released the rosters for this year’s game.
Locally, there will be three future Louisville Cardinals competing for the White team. Quentin Snider of Louisville Ballard, Jaylen Johnson out of Michigan and Chinanu Onuaku from Maryland.
Snider was recently named to the 2014 Jordan Brand Classic game after having a stellar senior season. Averaged 22.3 points and 5.3 assists for his team that fell just short of making the KY state high school tournament.
As for Kentucky, none of their four future guys will play in this year’s classic. All have prior commitments to other all-star events including the prestigious McDonalds All-American game.
For you Indiana fans that happen to live here locally, you should enjoy this event as two future Hoosiers will hit the court. Max Hoetzel, a 6’7 forward from Maryland and Robert Johnson, a 6’3 guard out of Virginia.
The 41st classic is set for April 18th in Freedom Hall. You can purchase tickets online at TicketMaster. Purchasing a ticket to the all-star game also gets you in to the Night of the Future Stars event that is held on April 17th. This event will be hosted at Floyd Central High School in Indiana, where fans can see the skills competitions and dunk contests.
Congratulations to all twenty seniors who have been chosen to the longest running all-star game in the country!
