Duke lost to North Carolina last night, that was cool. OK, moving on…

Jerry Palm over at CBSSports has updated his version of Bracketology. This week, Palm has Arizona Florida, Syracuse and Wichita State as his number one seeds, no change from his previous bracket.

For our local teams, Palm has Kentucky sitting at the 5-seed position in the West Region. This is the same sport Joe Lunardi of ESPN has UK in his bracket as well. The Cats would potentially face UW Green bay with Arizona as the number one.

As for Louisville though, Palm has some different thoughts. He decided to drop Louisville in his bracket from a 5-seed to a 7-seed without losing. He believes UofL really doesn’t deserve a good seed. Here’s what he had to say:

One team that dropped without losing is Louisville. The Cards’ profile just doesn’t look good enough for a top-five seed. In fact, historically speaking, it doesn’t look good enough for a single-digit seed. They may be loved by poll voters, but they only have three top-100 RPI wins. Before the committee took an ill-advised flier on Middle Tennessee State last year, three such wins was the bare minimum just to get an at-large bid, and it hadn’t been enough since 2003. No team with just three top-100 RPI wins has ever received a seed better than No. 11. Louisville is ranked 11th in the AP poll and fifth in the coaches poll. That’s a very rare dichotomy.

Louisville would play California in their opening game with Kansas and Florida both looming as the 1-2 seeds in that South Region.
