Last time Kentucky had the Gatorade National Player of the Year entering Lexington, Brandon Knight said him to the big blue nation. Well Cat fans, we have another coming to dawn the blue and white.
Big man Karl Towns has been awarded the Gatorade POY award after averaging 20.9 points, 13.4 rebounds and 6.2 blocks per game. Towns led his high school to a 30-2 overall record and a New Jersey state championship. This is the second consecutive year Towns earned the New Jersey Gatorade player of the year.
Karl Towns will graduate with a 3.6 grade point average and has been very vocal on social media since committing to Kentucky stating his only goal and mind set is to “win a championship.”
Congratulations to Karl as he will step into a new world of Kentucky basketball this upcoming summer. Go cats!
Here is a highlight reel of Towns putting in work on the court.
