According to Jody Demling, 7’1″ Egyptian center Anas Osama Mahmoud has committed to the Louisville Cardinals. He is a 2014 recruit that is considered a 3-star prospect by Rivals.com. He is listed at 210 lbs..

247Sports.com considers him the 14th-best center in the 2014 class. He had offers from Cincinnati, Arizona State, Florida, Minnesota and several other D-I schools.

Mahmoud is currently playing at West Oaks Academy in Orlando, Florida. He took a couple of visits to Louisville. He was thought to perhaps join the Cards in December, but had transcript issues.

In this Go4Report.com article, Mahmoud’s current coach said this of him:

He’s very skilled. He can score in a couple of ways, with his back to the basket, he can jump and shoot, he can beat people off the dribble. He has a really high IQ and sees the floor. He can pass the ball. On the defensive end of things, he can guard four different positions. He can guard post players, he can guard perimeter guys. He can block shots. He’s very multi-dimensional and versatile.

Pitino adding a center makes for a great class. It is a class with a lot of length and athleticism.
